I have said it and so have many others, I just want peace. John Lennon fought hard for it and in my opinion he might have been our best shot at it. Can we as a species ever achieve peace? For that matter do we want to? If we could have peace would it be as good as we think it will?

        peace lennon                        lennon

Lennon had a vision that I hope one day we all embrace

In one of my published articles entitled “Be careful what you wish for you just might get it?” I talked about the concept of heaven and could it be what you really think it will be. I can apply the same principal to peace. If there is no more evil in the world and all is good what would we have left?

The ideal of peace would include no more violence towards one another. Does this mean you will have no more competitive sports that include violence? What would being a human be like in a world with only peace?  Now no one will struggle because to have peace we must have all humans living in safety. The only struggle will be from natural causes. Does our entertainment not include violence anymore? Would this be balance? Are humans capable of being peaceful as a species? Can we control the emotions that lead to violence such as anger, jealousy, envy and rage and should we even try? Does our chemical makeup allow for this?

Do we really want peace? As a musician and songwriter I feel the best material for my lyrics involves the struggles we are involved in. Could I just write love songs and happy things? It is the injustice in this world that gives me inspiration.

It appears that a world completely at peace will certainly be difficult to achieve. What I am looking for now is balance in the world. I believe that the balance has been off for a very long time and that we need to start moving towards the side of peace. So many things are disruptive in this world. It all begins with balance within each person. So much violence, poverty and the negative aspects of humanity are caused by individuals being out of balance. Maybe some people like it that way.

Our economy is based on negativity. War is profit for the few. There are those who are wealthy and they are the few. The many live in misery and poverty. We always want more than we need.

                 norelizxgion

The first step is addressing all the religons in the world because I belive this is the root problem. Not the religion itself but believing in lies

I don’t have the answer but I believe strongly that we can be closer to peace than we are now. I also believe that until we address the root problems in this world we will never be even close. As long as we are complacent to the misery of others we will never change. Peace will only be achieved when we achieve balance and how we do this I don’t know. I guess it doesn’t really matter to the ones who are not suffering. If you have an answer I would love to hear it.

I am afraid I have offered more questions than answers but it is in asking the right questions that we can begin to get the right answers.

There is so much pain and suffering in this world and we really can change it. It would be humanities finest hour if all of us could just step back and achieve balance. It is our leaders who must make the first step. This includes all leaders from governments to spiritual leaders. We must acknowledge the truth in all situations.

Who Hijacked Reality / #37 A Galaxy. Did you hear me A GALAXY.

Journal Entry # #37

March 28th, 2010

It’s 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning and I can hear the church bells ringing outside my window. It never ceases to amaze me that humans will continually deny what by now should be obvious. The gods that humans worship probably don’t exist. My son and I were looking through Google earth last night in a little more depth than usual. I am in awe as to what this program represents the hours and dedication that it took to bring this to fruition. You not only can see every place on earth but Mars, the moon and most impressive to me the sky.

                        green something

A picture I took from Google Earth with a mysterios green object in it.

If you look at the sky application in the program you should be blown away. As you zoom into an area you will see clusters of stars, galaxies, nebulas and other unidentified objects. The dedication to categorize this is to be respected.

I zoom in and I find a galaxy. Do you have any comprehension as to what this represents the probability of 150 billion solar systems. The probability of life on at least 50,000 planets within these solar systems and that is just 1 galaxy. How many galaxies are in the known universe? You will notice I said the known universe. Maybe about 20 years ago a group of people were sitting around and someone said it sure would be cool if you were able to see on your computer the entire planet, hell the entire galaxy, then another person said that will never happen. Well it did.

                 Digital Universe (14)

                                     A  GALAXY

We are able to see the sky because of the tireless work of scientists and one of the greatest inventions the Hubble telescope. Imagine what we will be able to see when the new one is up and running. The James Webb Telescope.

If you can truthfully say that you still believe in the gods of humanity after looking at the images from Google Earth or any images of space then you truly are living in a fantasy world. These images alone should be enough proof to you that your god probably doesn`t exist. I have not even touched on all the other arguments or evidence. This one fact alone should be enough. Any scientist worth his salt will not believe. If you are not at least saying I really don`t know to the answers to most of the big questions then again you probably are diluted.

I am in complete awe as to the wonders this universe has to offer. I cannot comprehend the scope of the universe which puts me in more awe. A galaxy c’mon a galaxy. To begin to even explore or own galaxy the Milky Way is mind blowing. You begin to question your significance in the big picture.  At the end of the day once you acknowledge the truth as to the scope of this universe one would simply decide to accept a place in it and go about enjoying each day and contributing to humanity in a positive way.

                 124675

Is this where  god fits in?

If you can show me how you can fit your god into this big picture with the truth in mind I would be delighted to hear what you have to say. There are rules though, you can`t say “gods ways are more powerful and mysterious than ours and we can never comprehend them” because that really just is a copout answer. You can`t say “god created all of this” because of the scope of the universe and our place in it demonstrates this is not a valid argument.

The point is this with this massive piece of credible evidence you really have to wake up if you are a believer and except what is probably the truth. This is the gateway for humanity to let go of the barbaric past and move towards a peaceful prosperous future. Think about it a galaxy. How wondrous the natural world can be.

Who Hijacked Reality / #36 The Hate Law in Canada and Free Speech.

Journal Entry # 36.

March 27th, 2010

The recent Anne Coulter incident where she was asked to come and speak in Ottawa and then turned away due to protest from certain groups brings to light our lack of a basic right Free speech in Canada. The Hate Law.

             Anne Coulter

                Anne Coulter The Repulican Darling

http://www.thestar.com/news/insight/article/785432–canada-s-coulter-imbroglio

The Link to The Stars story on Anne Coulter with great responses.

  • Canadian Human Rights Act
    • Section 13 is used to attack websites which promote hate as defined in this section;
  • Canadian Criminal Code
    • Section 318 – Every one who advocates or promotes genocide is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years.
    • Section 319 – Every one who, by communicating statements in any public place, incites hatred against any identifiable group where such incitement is likely to lead to a breach of the peace is guilty of ……..
    • Section 320 – A judge who is satisfied by information on oath that there are reasonable grounds for believing that any publication, copies of which are kept for sale or distribution in premises within the jurisdiction of the court, is hate propaganda shall issue a warrant under his hand authorizing seizure of the copies.

http://www.canadianlawsite.ca/hate-laws.htm     here you can find links to the particulars of the law.

OK This is ridiculous you cannot have free speech and then make certain aspects of that speech illegal. The very act of this negates free speech. It means that we have speech that is controlled and I for one adamantly disagree with this. I understand that the idea is to protect certain groups from hate propaganda but that is not the way to do it. If it is about being offended by what someone has said too bad for you don’t be offended by it. Now if individual’s decide to act on their speech then you must stop them if they break the law (but not this law) but we have plenty of laws in place for that.

Often times the situation is this. The group that is protesting against what is being said is doing the exact same thing from their perspective. They hate the haters. I might not like what someone is saying and if this is the case I will chose not to listen.

I have written about this issue in one of my published articles.

 http://www.apsleyvoice.com/archives/2009_issues/oct_09/20.htm

One of the concepts in the Code that I have written about is this; No one can offend you or insult you, you can only offend yourself. It is just words you decide how to react to it. My father and many others did not fight in brutal wars so that we could be limited in what we have the right to say. Free speech is all speech. There is an excellent documentary called Shouting Fire

Shouting Fire HBO Documentary Trailer

We must have free speech that is complete whether you like what someone else is saying or not is not the point. If we fail to defend this ideal it is a slippery slope towards other limitations. I would not be able to say what I want to in my pots or on my website. The lyrics of my songs can now be subject to these laws because we still have not defined exactly what hate is. Anything can be hated by anyone. Freedom of religion will now come in to question. This is a ridiculous and barbaric law that must be removed.

I will defend to the death someone’s right to say whatever the fuck they want whether I agree or disagree. Without this communication comes to a halt and we can see from the past and present where this leads.  Complete free speech is essential to democracy.

You should have the right to hate whatever you want to.

Canada has become a pussy nation in regards to this issue. We bow down to whatever fringe group has enough clout. We don’t want to offend anyone but by trying not to offend you actually offend. Next thing certain words will be disallowed if the are not already. What happens if I am telling a joke and someone takes offence to it? Free speech is all speech end of story.

Who Hijacked Reality / #35 A reminder that life is short.

Journal Entry # 35

March 26th, 2010

As I was sitting here thinking about the things in life that we can all do to make each day valued I received a call from a friend I had not heard from in awhile. As I looked at the name on the call display I knew it was not a telemarketer so I picked up immediately wondering how they we doing. I had bought a piece of property about 11 years back all excited that we were going to build our dream home on it. One day when the kids and I were there clearing the land the couple that had bought the property next us came over to introduce themselves. Within seconds I noticed that this was a girl who I had been in love with when I was 17. We had become good friends since she was not allowed to go out with me and really didn’t have the same feelings for me. As high school ended and everyone moved on we lost touch and of course went our separate ways. I was happy to see that she had found happiness. Over the next 11 years we stayed connected and visited each other.

The call was not what I expected it was her partner telling me that she had died of lung cancer. As he explained to me the details of her contracting the disease just 3 short months ago I felt saddened and reminded of how quickly our life can end.  She was young. There is no immortality.

I ask you these questions as I am sure we all know someone who has died too soon.

Are you happy with your life?

Have you helped someone else have a better life?

Have you made each day, each hour and each minute important?

If you were to die today would you have any regrets?

Do you know someone else who would have regrets?

What are you going to do to make each moment count?

There is no afterlife. This is the only chance we get. So many people waste each moment in life and we need to stop doing this. So many people needlessly die each day. I ask you to make each day count not only for you but for all around you and all on this planet. We really have to stop hurting each other. We really need to just give everything we have to each moment.

Who Hijacked Reality / #34 Herding cats (Atheists).

Journal Entry # 34

March 26th, 2010

The saying goes like this; getting (insert name) to get organized is like herding cats. For those of you who do not see the analogy cats are very independent and are not subject to a herd mentality. For my purpose here the names I will insert are atheists, free thinkers and humanists.

              funny-pictures-cat-greets-dog-at-door

                              Who would you rather be?

I am an Atheist. Although I am proud to say this I hesitate to use the title because of the meaning many give it. It is just a statement that means I do not believe in gods any gods. I like to refer to myself first and foremost as a human being. People think that being an atheist means you are part of a religion. I just base my decisions in life on evidence, credible evidence. Most people who are free thinkers are generally more intelligent than the average person. They are usually not followers. They are not part of the sheeple.

                                   The Sheeple

Now I have been this way most of my life with many periods of questioning and searching. I love to have a good intellectual conversation but that is a difficult task with most people. It is not easy to search out the ones who are willing to do this. I recently decided to bring forth my position in a public manner to do my part in affecting much needed change to this world. It is the inspiration of people like Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Bill Maher and others that have prompted me to be more vocal than I usually am and I am not shy.  I believe like others that there must be change but it must be the right change in order for humanity to rise to our potential. The place to start off is where the most prominent lies are put forth and that is religion in all forms..

            Dawkinshitchensbill maher

                 Dawkins          Hitchens                       Maher

I started writing articles in my local paper (opposite a pastors articles) unfortunately I have paid a price for my disbelief as most people in my area are believers. My business has slowed right down. I am a painting contractor. I have no proof of this but the timing coincides. I am also a musician so I thought the best way for me to continue this journey would be to put out a cd with the lyrical content having a message of challenging god and other issues. My hopes were that I would sell enough to at least pay for the effort. Now it is still early but I have made a large effort of promoting this project with little success. Maybe the music just sucks. I have also set up a website to promote the music and write a blog which of course this is one of the posts. No success. Trying to get like minded individuals to even hear or see this is difficult. It’s like herding cats.

I joined an atheist group near the town I lived in 2 years ago. Same problem very hard to get organized.  Too many alpha males in the group. All people wanted to do was talk and I wanted to act so I did but with no support. Now the opposite of this is that the Christians for example are very well organized and supportive of anything that promotes their message. They will always be victorious until we change this. So if you are reading this and you feel the way I do support groups and artists who are promoting this message. It is important as you probably realize. You know the feeling of being alone in your views so support.

               Front Cover For booklet

We ask that you support us by purchasing this Cd

I don’t want to appear as a Televangelist crying and asking you for your hard earned dollars. I am just asking that you purchase a product that helps move  towards getting humanity to a better place. If we never try nothing will get done and the religions and other groups that support and promote lies will win as they have always. I am just sick of it  maybe you’re not. I am trying what are you doing?

If you hear the music or have read a book you like pass it on. I and many others can’t keep doing this without support. I am just an average guy who has put his own money in to this and so are many others unless you are one of the successful ones like Maher and Dawkins. I am not complaining these are just the facts. Nothing will ever change until we change and become organized.

We see the problems and we have the solutions but that is not enough. We can still be cats and not sheep. Can you imagine what an organized group of cats can do? I can.
