Journal Entry # 38

I have said it and so have many others, I just want peace. John Lennon fought hard for it and in my opinion he might have been our best shot at it. Can we as a species ever achieve peace? For that matter do we want to? If we could have peace would it be as good as we think it will?
Lennon had a vision that I hope one day we all embrace
In one of my published articles entitled “Be careful what you wish for you just might get it?” I talked about the concept of heaven and could it be what you really think it will be. I can apply the same principal to peace. If there is no more evil in the world and all is good what would we have left?
The ideal of peace would include no more violence towards one another. Does this mean you will have no more competitive sports that include violence? What would being a human be like in a world with only peace? Now no one will struggle because to have peace we must have all humans living in safety. The only struggle will be from natural causes. Does our entertainment not include violence anymore? Would this be balance? Are humans capable of being peaceful as a species? Can we control the emotions that lead to violence such as anger, jealousy, envy and rage and should we even try? Does our chemical makeup allow for this?
Do we really want peace? As a musician and songwriter I feel the best material for my lyrics involves the struggles we are involved in. Could I just write love songs and happy things? It is the injustice in this world that gives me inspiration.
It appears that a world completely at peace will certainly be difficult to achieve. What I am looking for now is balance in the world. I believe that the balance has been off for a very long time and that we need to start moving towards the side of peace. So many things are disruptive in this world. It all begins with balance within each person. So much violence, poverty and the negative aspects of humanity are caused by individuals being out of balance. Maybe some people like it that way.
Our economy is based on negativity. War is profit for the few. There are those who are wealthy and they are the few. The many live in misery and poverty. We always want more than we need.
The first step is addressing all the religons in the world because I belive this is the root problem. Not the religion itself but believing in lies
I don’t have the answer but I believe strongly that we can be closer to peace than we are now. I also believe that until we address the root problems in this world we will never be even close. As long as we are complacent to the misery of others we will never change. Peace will only be achieved when we achieve balance and how we do this I don’t know. I guess it doesn’t really matter to the ones who are not suffering. If you have an answer I would love to hear it.
I am afraid I have offered more questions than answers but it is in asking the right questions that we can begin to get the right answers.
There is so much pain and suffering in this world and we really can change it. It would be humanities finest hour if all of us could just step back and achieve balance. It is our leaders who must make the first step. This includes all leaders from governments to spiritual leaders. We must acknowledge the truth in all situations.
Seek the truth always
