Journal Entry # 213

In my discussions with people I usually try to start off by agreeing on a definition for this word. I do this so that I can understand their base for understanding and determining what is real and so they can understand mine. You would think that that this would be a no brainer but it is not. Often the answers I get are baffling to me.
If you type in the word truth in Google you will find a number of organizations that claim they are seeking the truth or know what it is, maybe they do but I’ll bet if they are like anything the answers I have been getting it will be a warpped view of what the word and concept should be. I have defined this concept in many other posts but I will do it again so those new understand my meaning of the word.

these are just a few
My definition of truth is this; truth is what is in all matters. We cannot change it. It does not lie or care what we think. We either acknowledge it or we do not. There are infinite number of truths but the truth will always be the same for us all we just are aware often of different truths.
How we define what is true will be based on our understanding of reality. Nothing can be verified 100% as there is always doubt however small. We deem truth based on probabilities within our definition of reality. We use evidence, credible evidence.
It is important to acknowledge what is true not what we want to be true.
I just ask a simple question; what is your definition of the word truth and how do you determine what is true and what is not? What method do you use to do this?
Some answers I have received;
That is not important.
I just know it.
The gospel of Jesus is the truth.
God is truth.
I feel it in my heart.
You don’t know the truth.
The truth is absolute.
It is what I can see and feel.
I think this enough to get the point across. I am dumbfounded that people in this modern world do not have enough understanding of the process of verification by credible evidence. Since I challenge religious claims often people will not even answer this simple yet very important question.
I think I need to take a few days away from talking to people because I get sick and tired of dealing with outrageous claims and the unwillingness of many to verify them from a position of truth. At times I am literally in disbelief as to how we as a species have been able to survive. I can see why we have all the problems that we do.
Seek the truth always
