If you follow Christianity apparently you are in reverence of a father who willingly sent his own child to be tortured and sacrificed because of his own mistakes. In fact you hold this act in such high esteem that you feel it is the cornerstone of your beliefs. Would you sacrifice you own child in such a way?
Besides the lack of physical evidence to verify the existence of god one just has to look at the contradictions within the bible itself to see how absurd the idea is. The idea that an all powerful god would have a son who he would willingly send down to be killed to fix mistakes that of course an all powerful god would not make is just plain ridiculous. To then tell the followers that I have given my son to you so that you all can be saved from your wicked ways again an all powerful god should be able to come up with a better solution.
Then of course it would be easy for Jesus to agree to this because being a god himself there was no mystery as to what was going to happen and where he was going. Did he even actually feel any pain or was he pretending? It is just silly but there are those who have such devotion I dare say they would sacrifice their own children if they feel god has asked them to.
Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ demonstrated the brutality of the sacrifice but this apparently furthered the love of Christians even more.
If you are OK with this then I believe you have issues.

Gary David Currie……………….. SO basically you rejoice in a man being tortured and put to death. I really don’t get this. I know he died for your sins but I am sure god could have come up with a better method after all he is god. Human sacrifice is what god is promoting here. If you accept it by default you are endorsing the concept. Think about it. I WOULD NEVER SACRIFICE MY CHILD I DON’T CARE WHAT THE REASON IS. This is just insane. Would you sacrifice your child if god asked you?

Gary David Currie………. Well what does that mean? Are you children of god or Abraham. Now in answer to my question are you saying and I don’t know if you have children so we will speak hypothetically that you would sacrifice your own child if god asked you to?
Christian #4……….As Christians – we are children of God and Abraham was the ‘father of the faith’ so to speak, so we can also be called ‘children of Abraham by faith’. So, Jesus also said we are to love God more than family, wife, children, friends and even… our own lives. So – if God asked us to ‘sacrifice’ our children, we should be willing.
Christian martyr Paul Hill laid down his wife, his children and his own life to prevent further baby-murders at the hands of a circuit-riding abortionist. Brother Paul Hill was Satanically executed in 2003 by AGENTS OF SODOM working for the fictional STATE OF FLORIDA.
Thus, you can see there are different renderings/workings-out of ‘sacrifice’
Gary David Currie…………You have given me an honest answer which I appreciate. Now for the bad news. If you really think it is ok to in any way to sacrifice your children for your god then what can I say… This represents exactly my point. You must follow the tenants of your god no matter how screwed up they are. You know this is wrong but you would follow anyways. If you don’t follow then you are disobeying your god. Either way it is messed up and this should show a person dealing with reality how messed up religion is. Anyone who puts a fictitious god before their family again messed up. What you are really doing is putting your own self serving desires first in all cases.
How about people thinking realizing that religion isn’t all love if you want to follow the holy books. If you just want love and to help people you definitely don’t need religion for that.
The sacrifice of Abraham. Traumatize your child for life.
I am sure the vast majority of believers are sincere in their beliefs while realizing that of course they would not sacrifice their own children but of course they will ignore that this is part of their beliefs. They always seem to find some sort of an out in their mind.
You don’t need god to be a good person and really it doesn’t even help but if you really follow the holy books it can drive a sane person to do insane things. That is the scary part.
