Kamloops, BC’s best kept secret is revealed, the Tournament City Derby Dolls. What a great night out.

June 24th, 2012

For those of you that know me or have read anything I have written you will know that I have basically had a self imposed exile from most of life for the last 6 months due to a tragedy in my life. I am slowly coming out of this and learning to enjoy what life has to offer again with new friends, a new place to live and a new outlook on life.

Every once in awhile you get one of those great surprises that just offers you those great moments in life and this is one of them for me.

A few days before this event I was trying to figure out what to do on the weekend. I am into exploring new ideas and seeing what the new area I live in has to offer. I saw a sign at the store I was at for;

“Lock stock and two smoking bouts”. This caught my attention so I read further. I texted a friend and said how about Roller Derby on Saturday night as it sounds interesting. I pitched it as night out watching beautiful women fight each other all in fun of course. He said never been let’s give it a go.

Needless to say we were both completely sceptical and really had no idea what we were in for.

So we arrived thinking a couple of hours of fun, right off the bat the girls at the entrance made us feel welcome and the rest was well a fantastic night. We found out we could have a few beers and sit right next tot he action so we said absolutely. I could feel the electricity in the arena and I was looking forward to what was going to happen.

They did not disappoint from the referees , announcers to the players themselves very exciting. Tons of great action and great audience participation. The general feel of the crowd was just everyone wanting to enjoy themselves and this felt great.

As the night wore on I was having a blast and then some girls from the visiting team came and sat beside us. As I chatted them up they explained the rules and were just a pleasure to talk with. In fact any player, coach or anyone involved was amazingly receptive, what a joy.

Ok any guy who does not like to see beautiful women in so many ways with great outfits on battling it out on the floor well your loss.

I would recommend this night out for anyone from a family to someone looking for something very cool to do.

I had an awesome night and would do it again in a heartbeat.

The Derby Dolls and all teams involved allowed me through their adventure to have a great night out.

I salute you all and you have a fan in me.

Seek the truth always
