Journal Entry #617

While people are fighting for their rights and freedoms all around the world I do believe the impact will be in vain as long as we continue to indulge in fantasy thinking. Eventually the fight will settle down and while I agree this is a necessary step to attaining a peaceful existence for all it is the next step that is crucial. If we are not willing to listen to reason we are doomed.
This is my chosen path to support and promote reason and truth. This lack of reasoning is never more visible than when we look at our belief systems in the world today as there is a continuous appeal to the unknown to show us how we should live. We must get past this if we are to ever listen to what will actually help us.
Having a reality measuring stick would settle most disputes on this planet.
The gold in the Dark room
Imagine if you will, a room filled with many people seated in chairs. Now imagine that the room is completely dark so that none of the people can see anything at all. Not even their hands before their own faces. They are now told that metal cups have been placed under their chairs and each one is made of different metals: steel, silver, bronze, brass-and only one cup made of gold. Each cup weighs exactly the same, is shaped the same and is predominantly made up of different metals with some alloys used to make to make their densities indistinguishable. No discernable difference can be determined by simply holding them. The people in the room are then asked to pass around the various cups to one another for a few minutes. After a period of five minutes a voice calls out asking for the person who possesses the gold cup to respond. The analogy here is quite simple. Stating supernatural beliefs is lioke saying you are holding the gold cup in the dark room. Even if you had the gold cup in your hands you would not know it, because none of us can see in the dark.
We may be in possession of supernatural beliefs, which may ultimately be absolutely true. However, the big problem is that we have no way of knowing this because we lack the ability to check them against any type of measuring device.
In other words we cannot turn on the lights….With supernatural beliefs we are constantly in the dark.
A reality measuring stick would allow us to turn on the lights..
What supernaturalists tend to do is not only claim to be holding the cup ( for whatever reasons) but also maintain that we cannot prove they are not holding the cup.

One who carries a cross at some point intends to use it…I would keep an eye out for the nails and hammer they have hidden…

In response to;
Commitment to Christ means taking up your cross daily, giving up your hopes, dreams, possessions, even your very life if need be for the cause of Christ. Have you
done this?

When someone believes they are the living message or “living epistle” and claim this as there mission is it possible to have a discussion with them?
The contradictions in this message are quite evident…

MY MISSION~
My goal is not to stir up and create dissension. I’m not here for attention, nor am I here to gossip or slander other people. I’m also not here to shove what I believe and/or live out onto anyone. I truly care for the well being of others and do my best in being the light I am called to be. I guarantee everyone that though I will display the truth, I also will take into account how it’s being received by others. We all have opinions, views and beliefs, and I’m only playing a small part in the bigger picture of this world. I could remain silent and carry on in my life not caring about another human being but I know I am here for a reason and have a purpose to serve, as do all of you. I am no better than anyone else and I will never lord myself over any of you. You can try to hurt or slander my name but I will never retaliate in anger. Just know that because I cannot and will not sugar-coat the truth doesn’t mean I’m here to hurt you. We all have something to learn from this experience. – Be encouraged.

I posted this in several groups……

This is from a post in another group. Thoughts people as this really is a philosophical question:

Craig has just given the best evidence to show why a person should not believe in god, any gods. My explanation follows;
Craig Burkholder… Can anyone demonstrate that God didn’t create everything we see? Surely, people can surmise, assume, speculate, and opine that God didn’t create
the universe and everything in it. But, can anyone actually present proof that there is no evidence of God?
Gary David Currie……. Craig Burkholder you have presented the classic argument that the ancient sceptics have answered quit well. This is the 3rd option in the scientific process where we do what is called ” Suspend judgment” since we cannot prove this either way we then do not follow it as true, we just go on living and addressing the daily aspects of life.
What you and other believers do is use this as an excuse to believe which is known as “an appeal to ignorance” The very fact you have stated should be the reason you do not believe in god..
You have just shot yourself in the foot so to speak..

I hope I have demonstrated that appeals to the unknown are simply not going to work and that we must be rational in our worldviews. The ancient sceptics new this and paid the price. Today we still pay the price for ignorance as seen daily around the world.
I find that those who profess a supernatural faith are rarely willing to talk from a position of reason and will talk within the delusion, I will not. They avoid realistic discussion..
