We think we are so smart, top of the food chain and in control but there will come a time when we will pay for all we have done not only to each other but to all other life forms on this planet. It will not come in the form of a reckoning or rapture but it will be what we deserve as a species if we continue on this path of self destruction.

Look I understand the reasons why we do the things we do to each other but it really is stupid and self destructive. We have the capacity to change, to correct as much as we can the damage we have done and yet we continue to engage in this behaviour.

Of course there are people who value life and have empathy for others but it appears there are not enough.

An example of the cruelty we inflict;

http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/urge-the-chinese-goverment-to-set-up-laws-against-anima.html

Urge the Chinese Government to set Up Laws against Animal Cruelty

This is just one example and I really don’t need to list too much as I am sure you realize what I am referring to. Let me put it this way;

Right now someone around the world is;

Starving to death

Being tortured and sold into slavery

Being beaten

Living in abject poverty

Homeless

Abusing a spouse or other family member

Hurting an animal

Hopeless

Wishing they were dead

Being murdered

Being mentally abused

At war

Forced to commit terrible acts against another human being

Add to this; All the things we do to the rest of the earthlings.

I think you get the picture and I must tell you it pisses me off to no end and yet I feel so helpless. We really don’t give a shit as this can all be stopped.

Not to mention what we are doing to the environment, all the species that we have put in danger or have killed for our pleasures.

For such a dominate life form you would think that we should have learned not to do this by now but we haven’t.

As much as I want to live I do hope we either get our shit together or we go the way of the DODO and the planet will be better for it. I think we are doing far more harm than good and we will have to face our maker soon and yes that is the wrath of this planet.

The problems are obvious and the solutions are achievable but humanity is certainly not willing.

It appears that the rest of the earthlings and the earth itself would be better off without humanity.

Who Hijacked Reality / #432 We are born, we live and we die.

Journal Entry #432

May 5th, 2011

WE ARE BORN;

Basically we are copies. We enter this world and our basic functions take over. We begin the journey that is full of wonder, amazement, pain, joy and many other adventures and mysteries. Evolution has directed us to survive and all that entails, this will be the quest.

WE LIVE;

One of the things that separate us from all other earthlings is the ability to envision what will happen beyond the moment we live in. Even though we can only exist in this moment we have the ability to for example realize that at some point we will die. We have an idea of what our existence on this planet will involve and it is this realization that consumes our daily activities.

We can ask the questions why, what, where, how and when. We spend our life’s trying to answer these questions in one form or another. We have evolved to recognize the functions our bodies and mind play in this existence and that we actually exist. This essentially is our life and how we define and determine what our momentary actions will be and where they will propel us. Everything humanity engages in is about answering these questions. We will kill or heal, fight or flee, love or hate and do what we feel in necessary to maintain this existence.

This is who we are and how we fit into the natural world that surrounds us.

We grow up to slow and grow old too fast. If we are lucky enough to survive to the end of the cycle as we get older we spend our time either embracing our fearing the process.

WE DIE;

To be able to recognize that at some point you will die will define depending on how we see it the later part of our existence. Many spend much of their time trying to avoid the fate that awaits us, we lie to ourselves thinking that somehow we will be the one to cheat death and though we do not know for sure what happens when we die if we go by what we do know it is game over. Our brief moment in time is forgotten. As we all know though we will die.

So this is our life, what we make of it will be the journey. I hope one day we will as a species just accept that this is the process and we will respect it. Maybe then we will value every moment on this planet for each of us. Maybe we will stop trying to cheat the system that nature has evolved into and help each individual experience be a journey worth living. It doesn’t have to be miserable for anyone but we do not value this yet. What each of us feels is important is really only important to us.

What seemed so important today will be lost in another moment. When humanity is gone everything we killed each other over, hurt others over and all the moments that were lost engaging in behaviour that was fuelled by lies will mean nothing. I hope before our time in this universe is over we can figure out how to value the born, live and die cycle much better than we seem to be doing in this moment.

Who Hijacked Reality / #89 I am HUMAN what are you?

Journal Entry #89

June 8th 2010

Once we were tribes. Then we were nations. Then we were countries. Now we are globally connected but even more divided.

Who are we? We are HUMAN.

hu·man (hymn)

1. A member of the genus Homo and especially of the species H. sapiens.

2. A person: the extraordinary humans who explored Antarctica.adj.

1. Of, relating to, or characteristic of humans: the course of human events; the human race.

2. Having or showing those positive aspects of nature and character regarded as distinguishing humans from other animals: an act of human kindness.

3. Subject to or indicative of the weaknesses, imperfections, and fragility associated with humans: a mistake that shows he’s only human; human frailty.

4. Having the form of a human.

5. Made up of humans: formed a human bridge across the ice

 When you are asked who are you what is the first thing that comes to mind? Is it your religion? Is it your origin? Is it your race? Is it something else? What it should be is probably the one thing you did not even think of and that is human. Of all the earthlings we possess a highly unique set of skills that has placed us at the top of the food chain and yet in spite of all these skills we still don’t understand who we are. We are humans first. This is our connection the one aspect that unites us all. So why do we continue to focus on all of the aspects that separate us from each other?

As our methods of travel and communication have improved they have brought us closer than ever before and yet we continue to focus on ways to divide. Religions of the world should be on the decline but overall in the last 100 years they are gaining in popularity. All they do is divide us.  Races that were once considered pure are now so watered down that within the next 100 years I would speculate you will see one race of nationality the human race. If we continue on the same path we will find other ways to divide us. Is it really that hard to work together, to have empathy for your fellow human being? What will it take to unite us all?

3131919577_37ef2c512a_b

Can you see the difference?

Will it take being invaded by an alien species? When they look at us do you think they will see a Muslim or a Christian or an African? No they will see and earthling or a human. My point is this; we need to stop focusing on the things that divide us like class, religion, race, nationality, sports affiliation, tribes, ethnicity or anything else that you can think of that negatively separated us. It is very important to have our differences but those differences should unite us and bring positive attributes to the table not negative.

It baffels me that in this era of technology and science that so many will not accept or even understand the fact of EVOLUTION. This is fundamental in our understanding of who we are and demonstrarted that we are all human. For us to truly advance as a species this must be widely understood.

I wrote a song that you can find in the lyrics page called ” JUST HUMAN” which illustrates the message which I am shouting as loud as I can.

JHUMAN artwork boklet

We generally all have the same biological body parts and we all live on the same planet. I can instantly talk to someone half way around the world. I can even use a computer to translate as we talk. The barriers are no longer excuses for division so we need to stop.

I am presenting to you another reason why our archaic ways of the past are no longer valid and if we continue on this path we will not evolve we will devolve. I firmly believe that putting religious doctrine and belief systems in the history books is the beginning humanity needs to unite us. Join me in promoting the truth not what we want to be the truth.

“It would be almost unbelievable, if history did not record the tragic fact, that men have gone to war and cut each other’s throats because they could not agree as to what was to become of them after their throats were cut.” – Walter P. Stacey ( 1925-1951)

Who Hijacked Reality / #27 Afterlife ( How Arrogant We Are).

Journal Entry # 27

March 19th, 2010

I ran into a local pastor today who I have for the past 2 years been writing articles apposing his views. I don’t oppose him directly or attack him in any way I write about concepts that oppose religious doctrine. During our conversation he said something to me that made me give my head a shake. Please understand I am acquainted with this pastor and believe him to be a person who walks the path he has chosen. I can respect that even though I very much disagree with him and believe his views to be harmful especially since he affects a significant amount of people. What he said was this “I am more concerned about what happens after we die than I am with this life before we go to heaven.” This statement in my view is very dangerous. Let me explain.

When you open the doors that this statement represents I really don’t think most people think the consequences or questions through. The implications for this ideal are very dangerous and the result can be seen throughout the world. I do mean harmful results.

images of heaven            thumbnail 3

No one has a clue of what Heaven would be like so as long as you are going to be deluted you might as well make it fantatsic. If you are going to have Heaven you have to have HELL.

Let’s ask the basic questions. Where do you go when you die? Where is Heaven? Do you live there for eternity? What happens to those who don’t go to heaven? Who decides who goes where? Would I be me there or something else? What are the criteria for the decision to get in or not? Is everyone who ever lived or will live given this choice. What happens to all the other earthlings (all biological beings on this planet)? What happens if we discover life in the universe other than us, are they entitled to go there as well? What would my status be in heaven? How old would I be in Heaven? If I only live on this earth for about 75 years should I just kill myself and get into heaven as quick as possible? There are many more questions but we will stop here.

As you can see this chain of thinking brings about more questions than it answers.  First of all let me state this before we even begin to speculate. There is absolutely no credible evidence that a Heaven of any form even exists. There is very little mention of it in the bible so everything you have heard about it would be complete speculation. This is the end game for most religions. It is the reason you must do what the religion asks or demands of you. It would be the reason for most of the Dogma either the reward or punishment for following or not following the religion.  Yet there is no credible evidence for it. Take the reward or punishment away and there is now no incentive to follow the religion. Without this, I truly believe that most people would start to question why they are even religious in the first place. I could see it in the pastor’s eyes when I was talking with him that he believed this without doubt, that it was what he was waiting for, the reward for all his hard work.

This is the dangerous part. If you don’t value this life as the only one you have or that anyone else has you will have no problem abusing it in any number of ways. If you knew that you only had this life what would you do different? Let me tell you this, I don’t know 100% that this is it but the evidence certainly points to it. I guarantee you that all suicide bombers are absolutely convinced that they will live a better life in their heaven. Do you think they would blow themselves up if they thought different?

OK let’s say I buy that there is a Heaven and that I can go there if I follow the rules and I even know which Heaven is the right one what happens then? Will I still be human? Of course not I could not possibly have all those wonderful things and still feel pain, joy, heartbreak, love and any number of human emotions because they depend on living in this world. Will my great-grandmother be the same age I am? If all the family is there then of course the family dynamics would be very different. All the parameters would change. Would I really want to live forever? How can you ever feel truly alive if you knew you would never die?

We live in a world that has rules, the rules of nature. Without these rules where would that leave us? If everyone could be superman then no one can be superman. Think about it. All the pictures we create of heaven are only what our imagination would allow with the rules we follow. It really would have to be completely different there. Still the idea is this that forever you will be worshipping your god, forever.

Also when you think of the concept of a heaven you are talking about alternate realities or plains of existence. So far we have no evidence for this. When you think about this concept follow the thought all the way through to its conclusion. Ask all the questions you can think off and I will guarantee you that if you put aside your belifes while you are doing this if you are religious, you will see how little sense this makes. Now the problem for you is this, if this makes little sense then everything else within your chosen religion will make little sense as well. Therefore you will come to the conclusion that what you believe is probably not true. In conversations with religious people I have brought this subject up and most will not talk about it because once they do they will realize how silly it really is.

The concept of heaven is ridiculous and anyone that believes in it is just fooling themselves. Are we that arrogant that we think we can live forever? How selfish we truly are.

Value each moment as if it was your last. There really is no past, no future you only have this moment, don’t waste it.

Who Hijacked Reality / #6 We define our future by the present.

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Journal Entry # 6

January 7th, 2010

 Why do we react instead of acting? In our short history we as a species have the capability to define our future in a positive way and yet we only think of the moment and what we can gain out of it. Although I do not believe in gods if we are to have a religion it must be one of harmony and peace where we connect to the very planet that gives us life. No magic but full of mystery accepting what we know and searching for what we do not.  With almost 7 billion people on this planet most of us not looking beyond or own doorstep we must change the way we view life our own and all earthlings. How we fit in. What would we appear as to a race from another planet who has found peace and harmony. I imagine much like an educated cockroach. I do have faith in humanity and that is why I write and I try to add my small part to the big picture but it appears for everyone person trying to move forward in a positive direction there are thousands pulling them back.

We squabble over the most insignificant things. We take what we want without thinking about the overall consequences. Might is right rules the day. Those in charge lead us in unproductive directions. We take small steps that while appearing to do good really only sweep it under the carpet. We are a band aid society feeling that if we can sponsor a starving child we are making a difference when what we really need to do is find out why that child is starving and address that issue. I am trying to look at the root problems but it is all in vain to identify them if there is no one willing to help solve them. I am sickened by our absolute selfishness and our inability to look beyond our own situation.

There is hope. It only takes one to make a difference because one person can change and so all can change. There will always be those who cannot step outside their box and who will try to keep others from rising above their status in life because it is easier in their minds to bring people to their level than to rise up to someone else’s. I really do not understand how someone refuses to see the truth in this world when it is staring them right in the face. Why does 85% of the world believe in gods when there is no credible evidence to support these believes? We must act as a whole because if we continue down this path we will survive probably but we will not become what we truly can become.

Identifying the problem is not hard and even coming up with a solution that is positive is not hard. Acting on these solutions is as hard as we want to make it and for some reason we seem to like misery and suffering because we keep allowing it to continue.
