Who Hijacked Reality / #652 One of the most ignorant quotes I have ever seen by Dusty Smith and I call bullshit on it.

Journal Entry #652

May 28th, 2012

Here is the quote and the person who said it. Now I have no problem with Dusty beyond this quote and I am strictly addressing this particular quote. I will link his website so you can see anything else he has written and made. Dusty is more than welcome to respond if he feels the need as I support his right to free speech and his views on life.

It pisses me off to no end when people say dumb shit like this but try and make it sound intelligent. This thought is truly not thought thru and leaves out so much that eludes to and I will address this as well as counter the stupidity disguised as intelligence in this quote.

“Nobody can “break your heart”. All that has happened is that the person who used to make your brain release pleasurable chemicals is no longer doing so and your brain is drug deprived. That person is not the only one capable of making your brain release those chemicals. Replace them and move on.”

Dusty Smith

Now let us break this down and respond;

“Nobody can “break your heart”.

No shit it is a figure of speech representing an emotional connection that you have with another person.

All that has happened is that the person who used to make your brain release pleasurable chemicals is no longer doing so and your brain is drug deprived.

I will agree with this but here is where we start to see problems. That is not all that has happened unless we are talking about a one night stand but of course this will not lead to heartbreak. You have now invested more than just a few chemical dependencies with this other person and based on the time frame that connection will deepen. When the connection is broken we know have many other chemicals released due to the feelings of betrayal rejection and other emotions beyond the feeling that love bring and I will go into this more later. SO really that is not all that has happened at all.

So if nobody can break your heart and it is completely up to you how you feel and what emotions you allow then when Dusty says that person who used to make your brain release chemicals is not true at all as you are the one who released those chemicals although it will be based on interaction with this other person., so a bit of a contradiction here.

That person is not the only one capable of making your brain release those chemicals.

That person did not do it at all you did it. So really you are the only one capable of releasing your chemicals as it is your choice.

Replace them and move on.”

Now this is the part that really pisses me off;

Replace them and move on, said as if it was easy as pie. You can never replace them as the relationship you had with them will be completely different than any other relationship. Now if we add to the mix children and all the other ripples that are created from this one relationship replacing them will be impossible. Of course if they are
not willing to be with you can’t force them but the process to move on will be intense as there is so much more involved than a few chemical reactions of pleasure as now we have so many other chemical reactions to deal with that are not pleasurable and they must be dealt with before one can feel pleasure again from another.

The ease at which Dusty eludes in doing this is ignorant.

Can you so easily replace a mother or a father of your children and now you must deal with children if you have any from this relationship. You relationship becomes so much more than a few chemical reactions as it becomes your identity, your life and the reason you live. You are a family and this can never be replaced so moving on is not just moving on as so many seem to think it is  when they tell others to just move on.

You have to go through the process of grieve the 5 steps of denial, bargaining, anger depression and acceptance as you are dealing with a loss in your life. This process will not be easy if you have any type of deep connection with this person and that is what your heart feels broken. You emotions have been twisted and turned around and this is no easy fix. Many do not get past the stages of grieve and stay in anger or denial and other combinations of these so replacing them and moving on is not an easy task in fact you will never replace them but you can move on with time.

Also along with this heartbreak will often com with physical and financial difficulties as well as the emotional component forcing one to completely start again and re-examine their life. Friends are often part of the couple and this all changes as well.

So it is not just a life that is affected but many life’s and their chemical reactions as well.

If we look at this from the point of view as a drug addict going cold turkey on their drug how can they replace this particular drug and why would they want to? They will have to go through the withdrawals and then deal with what happened before they can get off the drug or else they are just trading one addiction with another.

So it is not just replace them and move on at all and this is the ignorant part.  Id we want to break IT down to chemical reactions then we now have a huge mine field to get through as we know very little about the chemicals involved and their reactions with our emotions. So to try and equate this to science at this point is just a really bad guess. Hence the mixing of intelligence with stupidity in other words trying to sound smart when the smart person would not have said this at all. A little bit of information in
this case is a dangerous cocktail of ignorance.

I call complete bullshit on this quote by Dusty and if Dusty has broken up from a long-term relationship of say 25 years I doubt he would be saying this at all. I am sure the kids would love to hear that they are all part of a chemical reaction that can easily be replaced. I could be wrong and maybe he has and this is how he handled it but if he did he is in denial.

Breaking our lives down to be drugged or drug deprived is stupid as we know so little about the drugs that are our emotions. If he was following science as he eludes to he
would admit he knows very little on this one and would see the ignorance in his quote..

Moving on is a very difficult task and that person can never be replaced and that is reality.

Who Hijacked Reality / #487 You can’t use my real name.

Journal Entry #487

June 30th, 2011

Do we really know anyone on line? Can we tell if the person we are talking to is actually the person we are talking to? We can be anyone we want to be behind our internet masks, we can hide from reality and say things we would never say in public or personally. We are brave in the comfort of security blankets. We quickly forget that all actions have consequences. I am speaking in general terms here as I really do not know anyone’s situation but my own.

This as a comment from yesterdays post;

Adrian says:

First I have no way of knowing what this person’s real name is, for all I know they could be lying about everything. Now I also find it interesting that they were upset that I used the name they declared as their identity on line when they used my name several times in the insults and accusations. All I did was repost their comments for people to draw their own conclusions.

I am reposting the kangaroo court post that certain people decided to hold for what they felt I had done. I want you to notice the complete lack of reasoning and logic here by the statement; “in my view, he has clearly broken the only rule of the group: “Express yourself freely, but wanton disrespect will not be tolerated here.” How can one possible break this rule? If I was expressing myself freely then anything I say will be acceptable. This is akin  to saying we believe in free speech accept…

Mirko Lukash

as one of the creators of the group, i am very sorry to have to resort to this but i things have come to a point i feel i need to propose the banning of a member – gary david currie. in my view, he has clearly broken the only rule of the group: “Express yourself freely, but wanton disrespect will not be tolerated here.”

he has broken it towards a new member of this group, that he befriended on account of being a member of this group, and because of what he did the image of the group as a whole has suffered, at least it the eyes of the said new member. for all these reasons what he did transcends pure bilateral relation of him vs. the new member and has become group matter.

moreover, he has repeatedly shown that he is unable or unwilling to realize what has he done or to admit the consequences of his actions and we as a group have all the reason to believe he will repeat the behaviour we definitely characterized as disrespectful and intolerable. i call on all members, gary david currie included, to comment on this proposal, after which we will make a joint conclusion and appropriate action.

For all I know you could look like this…..

How will social interaction on the internet play out? Will are true personalities come through because we feel we do not have to use our filters. Will we try and enact laws to limit what one can do and say in a global effort?

I do believe that a good portion of humanity understands the value of the internet and will us with discretion and respect but the few will cause problems for the many. People have forged bonds and relationships through social networking that are completely unrealistic. It is a fantasy that will always be a letdown in reality. Very few if any could ever live up to what we create in our minds.

Surrogates Best Scene

Just like in the movie Surrogates we can be hiding behind a fake persona, who you are on the internet is it really you? Would you act this way in front of someone?

I personally use the internet as a public figure and keep my private life to myself where it should be. I will say that in most interaction I have witnessed there is a lack of good judgment, a lack of reasoning and rational thought. Is this a reflection of reality?

Would the above people who belong to a certain group hold a kangaroo court in real life? Would they have said all that they said as written in yesterdays post in person?

http://thefreeman.net/journal/?p=4839  Who Hijacked Reality / 486 Public shaming, Lynch mob mentality, the court of public opinion and creating the devil you need.

Is this the brave new world that was written about by many?

I will continue this message we must value evidence that can be verified, we must value due process of law. If we continue to have anarchy on the internet it will eventually run its course as all anarchy does. We always realize that in order for all to feel safe we must have rules. If we do not abuse those rules now then they will not be imposed upon us at some point.

I offer this as a suggestion; if you would not behave this way in public do not do it on the internet.

Journal Entry # 172

August 26th, 2010

As I continue on my quest to promote our music and engage people in meaningful conversation about pertinent issues of the day I have interesting experiences. While on “The Bible “ page on face book which I visit once in awhile to see what some of the faithful are saying I get this feeling of self fulfilling prophecy from many of them. While there today I noticed a posting  to stop another page that was alleged to be run by Atheists as a fake bible page but it was the wording that stooped me in my tracks.

It was called “ Shut down the Gold Bible page”.

Underneath it stated “Stop the atheist enemy from spreading lies” I am paraphrasing  as I was banned and cannot go back and get the exact comment. I did not realize that there was a war brewing and that I being an Atheist was the enemy. I was under the impression that we were all in this together. I wrote in the comments and was immediately bombarded. I will reprint the 2 posts I put but cannot put the responses. Most were nasty.

Gary David CurrieThe Bible: I am still mystified as to why you are all so concerned with blocking atheists. Do you consider us the enemy? The sidebar invites nonbelievers and I am sorry sometimes you have to take the good with bad. We are not the enemy we just don’t believe in your god until you give us god reason to. I saw a post here attacking Atheists and trying to stop free speech. You should be defending these rights it allows you to talk here. This is a chance for you to truly practice what you preach not practice hate. Don’t be so hypocritical.

Gary David CurrieThe Bible: I thank all who talked with me. I urge you all to dig deep into your scripture and practice what you preach. I ask that you stay away from harsh judgment that I so frequently see when I visit here. To those that continually ask what I am doing here please read the side bar, I am invited. I seek to build bridges and find common ground but I so often hear that there is no common ground and I feel the absolute righteousness spew forth that makes this world so dangerous to live in. Be the solution not the problem. Thanks for listening.

The-Atheist-e

I just don’t get it. They preach love and understanding and then they get all righteous. How do you reconcile the two? Many times I feel they are planning for the demise of anyone that is not like them. Is this dangerous? I do believe so.

So how do you find common ground with people who are not willing to even talk? I keep hearing that the vast majority of the faithful are moderate. I have no idea how you can be moderate when the books you follow actually teach what the fundamentalists are doing.  So why don’t the moderates speak out against the craziness in all religions. Why because they know that the ones who seem crazy are actually the ones that are being true to the cause and when push comes to shove they will have to support them if they are believers.

atheist 111

This is another reason why religions need to be challenged. Call me what you want I am just a person who has had enough of the bullshit and sees the harmful affects that lying produces in all areas in life. I am just willing to do something about it. So sit back and ignore things until they are at your doorstep and that is when it is always too late. If we have trouble talking now what do you think will happen when that is no longer possible?

We talk to avoid violence. When those that support violence to reach their agendas are no longer willing to talk what do you think the logical outcome will be? You can see it in small doses around the world imagine when the wave comes. I remember hearing that WW2 was to be the war to end all wars but there are those who are willing to continue the wars. I am not that is why I speak out.

Who Hijacked Reality / #140 Diversity it is very important.

Can you imagine if everyone on this planet believed in the same thing? Imagine if we were all Mormons, everyone on the planet walking around in the same white shirt and black tie, with the same haircut saying the same thing. Whose door would they knock on then?

Diversity_Matters_photo_without_wording__

Why is diversity important? What is funny is that most of us including myself are actually trying to get people to think the way we do. We all think that we have the answers and that we are right and everyone else is wrong. I am glad it is this way I would not want a world where everyone thought the way I do. How boring would it be to argue with myself daily?

Diversity is not the problem the problem is when we try to impose that diversity on others through force from violence to mind control. I firmly believe in free speech and free thought as long as it does not impose on the established rights of others. Why do certain people feel they have the right to dictate what others will do even thought those people are not interested in what they are imposing. These are all excellent ethics questions which I will and have discussed over the life of this blog.

We have diversity in culture, religious believes, ethical beliefs, and in appearance. IO am sure I am not covering everything but I think most things will fit into these categories of art.

The Moonies choose who you marry  in a massive ceremony.

Diversity helps create struggle and leads to accomplishment. It fulfills our desires and shows us our hopes. What great things would we have lost if it were not for diversity? Would Beethoven or Mozart have been able to create their great works? Would I even have anything to talk about in this blog? Would you have anything to talk about?

Diversity lends to change and change is inevitable. So let’s celebrate diversity as long as it does not involve the things that as a society we believe are harmful that are based in truth. As a species we love our celebration that is part of our diversity.

The diversity of religion.

We also have a hard time accepting the differences of others as individuals, families, communities and global . This is important to overcome for us appreciate those differences. These are part of the things that make us human. These are the things that believing in a god stops from flourishing.

“I celebrate diversity but not at the expense of my humanity.”
