Iran has the worst Heroin addiction rate in the world. Why is this shocking? This is a country gripped under Sharia law. An Islamic state that forbids the use of drugs and alcohol should not have even the lowest rate of heroin addiction. This just proves once again that religion cannot stop what humans do to escape their problems in fact it just makes that escape all the more attractive.  Iran is also a major hub in the Heroin trade with the drug coming in from Afghanistan.

Drug Use in Iran (IranVNC.com)

People are in the grip of poverty and unemployment. With such strict religious standards ther is little room for growth which provides employment. When you are forbidden to do so much and you have no self esteem drugs can be a sweet release at first but of course that is the illusion.

With so much hate towards the Western world from Islam preaching about their decadent ways and Islam being the answer of purity the drug problem in Iran is an indication of what religion any religion eventually does to a society. The shame of this is also that the drug money made from the heroin trade is used to support terrorist activities thus continuing the cycle of lies which for most always ends in tragedy.

I am sure the drug addicts did not start off saying I am going to be a drug addict. They probably like all of us wanted a good life, to raise a family and be happy so where did all this go so very wrong?

The main point here is that this is not just a problem in the west. It is not a religious problem. It is not a political problem. It is a human problem shared by all across this planet. The solution needs to be shared by all across this planet.
