Journal Entry #673

June 20th, 2012

Basically I write about one thing and that is truth and that basically is everything. When we believe lies to be true in any form the outcome will not be positive. The process of life demands this and no matter what you do you nor I can avoid this. To deny this is simply insane. Lies will always catch up with you so you might as well just value the truth straight up. If you have read anything I have written it will have this theme behind it.

This is the most important thing we can talk about as it is the foundation for all we do, all we think about and all that is and so many deny this.

I hear stupid things like;

Kellie Nelson…. you simply cannot handle my reality so you hide in your own relative one and whine when you cannot comprehend others realities.

This is simply ridiculous and if you believe this then you are delusional as well as put by a friend of mine;

Martin Tillier ……Reality is not subjective, it’s what happens whether we are around to observe it or not, no-one has ”their own reality” , that is a sign of misapprehension of what the term ‘reality’ means, and usually also a sign of delusion and egocentric views.

All great truths begin as blasphemies…… George Bernard Shaw

When we engage in this escapism the results are often disastrous as we will find a million different ways to deny the truth on anything and one of the results of this is abandonment. This is the one that bothers me the most. And before you go getting you must have been hurt in your life talk, of course I have and I am sure almost all of us have at some point or another as well. Doesn’t mean this is why I talk about it as it is just a huge problem I see within the human race that creates a cycle of physical and emotional abuse. All based on believing in lies, escaping the truth which of course one cannot do but we like to think we can.

What can we learn from the Orca as an example as a higher functioning mammal. Well just this one basic thing would be enough to change the course of humanity.

An Orca does not abandon their family because;

They are not happy.

They are not in love anymore.

They are having a midlife crisis.

They want to be young again or any other stupid reason.

They are devoted for life.

I think they have more to teach us then we do them.

And we think we know what LOVE is….

This is very simple if you make a commitment in life honour it as the consequences will ripple through the ages until someone breaks the cycle. If people were to just do this one thing which is to keep their word, stay the course as it always gets rough as this is how life works so many difficulties would be avoided that we create for ourselves.

The truth is that people who do this are just running away, not thinking through their actions in the first place and being beyond self centered.

This is just one example of believing in and acting on lies that humanity seems to excel at from religions to how life actually works. I have spent many articles writing about this but very few will even be willing to listen and those that do agree probably already have these concepts I champion firmly in place.

We are not alone on this planet and all we do eventually ripples back to us so let’s just do the right thing in the first place.

It is always a decision we make each moment to acknowledge the truth or to accept a lie. Those that knowingly lie make it even harder on themselves and those around them. We are masters of escapism and some of it is healthy but most of it is not.

So the question becomes what are we escaping and why is it more important than facing it.

The answer is simple; our fears and believe me there is no escape from them so I suggest you just face them in the first place..

I once was told I had a “disturbed outlook on life” by someone who was very close to me. I never really understood that valuing the truth could be disturbed but I guess to others who value lies it will be.

I did not make the rules of the universe or life I just try and understand them the best I can and valuing the truth helps this process more than anything.

So let’s learn from the Orca and anything else in nature as there is little deception in nature accept in humanity.

Seek the truth always

Who Hijacked Reality / #624 What I see as the core problems for humanity..

Journal Entry #623

December 6th, 2011

“The moment we are willing to lose everything is the moment we are truly free.”

Gary David Currie

This is how I see life, my worldview and I could be wrong on anything I say. I often find people completely disagree with what I present but then they are not willing to show me why. They just want to tell me I am wrong. If there is one thing I feel I have demonstrated over the many articles I have written I it is the value I place on truth and acceptance of the truth no matter what it may be.

The core problems;

Lying to ourselves not acknowledging the truth;

I see this as the number one issue facing humanity and everything else that we do that is not attributed to the natural world is based on this. It is as if our entire way of life is built around believing in and acting on what are probably lies. I have been told many times that I am arrogant for thinking I have it right, who am I to say what is true or even what truth is and that I just don’t get it or understand. All of this may be true but what I do think I have got right and  again I could certainly be wrong is the process for discovering what is true and what is not.  That process is science.

I will repeat my definition of truth which is really just an expansion of the dictionary definition and the method or process of science. I feel that answering this fundamental question; what is truth and how do we determine it is vital and yet as I ask this to many I have so far not been able to get even close to a consensus on this.

Truth- all that is, all that is real, all that is part of reality and all that is factual.

How we determine what is true based on a shared accepted point of reference we call reality. – Verification through the method of the scientific process, reason and logic.

I believe that we cannot verify anything 100% as doubt can always be cast however small so we work on a system of probabilities, best guess and beyond reasonable doubt to say that we know something is true.

We should never believe anything in the unknown to be true until it is verified as known. We can speculate, imagine and engage in fantasy thinking but must always come back to our base of reality. The unknown should not be used as an argument to dispute the known or another unknown as this is just pure speculation.

For every question there can only be one answer that is true.

Once something is known it is no longer up for debate there is only acceptance or ignorance.

There is only truth based on my definition.

The truth will remain the truth no matter what we think our try and do to it, we are powerless over it and yet it is what gives us our power.

Something is either true or it is not even if we do not know if it is true or not.

Here is the Scientific method so we are clear;

1. We often first make an observation of something that has happened.

2. We then consider what caused this thing to happen by posing an educated guess or hypothesis.

3. we can then make predictions about what we should expect to see if our hypothesis is correct.

4. If necessary, experimentation and data collection may be conducted.

5. Further observation is necessary, which will lead to 3 possible outcomes..

a If we observe that our data positively supports our prediction, then we have hypothesis confirmation..(at least for now)

b. If we observe that our data do not support our prediction, then we have hypothesis falsification and we may be forced to either give up or modify our hypothesis.

c. If there are simply not enough data to decide either way, then we suspend judgement.

6. Finally we need to consider whether there are any other competing hypothesis that provide an equally plausible or likely explanation for our observation and  we need to ask ourselves which seems more reasonable. If there are no others, then we may decide to tentatively to accept the hypothesis based on the currently available information.

This really is everything in my opinion but until we can get agreement on this we will as a species have a hard time on this journey.

 Christopher DiCarlo

Drama;

How much of our daily life is taken up by unnecessary drama? Drama is part of life as events unfold that are out of our control but what I am referring to is the things we say and do that create problems, the gossip and poor treatment of each other. We cannot seem to avoid looking at the misery of others and creating our own misery.  I do
believe it is because we avoid the truth in life and lie to ourselves that we need drama to justify why we do this. Drama begets drama and then the steamroller is in action. Workplace drama, high school drama, entertainment drama, family drama, drama queens, personal drama and global drama. Drama is everywhere and most of it is so unnecessary.

Greed;

I see nothing wrong with desiring things in life, working towards a life that one feels will bring them happiness but when that desire ignores the important things in life we see the balance of life tilt towards the negative. Do you really need what you have? As long as others in this world do not have the basics should we not care?

Life is short and we only have one shot at it. There will be up’s and downs, triumphs and disasters and I have no idea what will make your life a life worth living as that is will be up to you but I would like to propose this;

“It is not death itself we fear but the idea of a life not lived ending.”

Who Hijacked Reality / #622 The choices we make….

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

Journal Entry #622

December 2nd, 2011

Each day we all make many choices and sometimes we realize the consequences and sometimes we don’t but I do believe we will always do what we feel is best for us at that moment.

I believe we are limited in our choices as we have no control over what others do and what the natural world will do so we are confined within our view of the universe, of the planet and of the world that we surround our self with.

Delaying a choice is still a choice and once one realizes this it becomes easier to make choices that will have a better chance at positive results than negative. Often choices we make will decide the choices others must make and then they now must decide their options based on their inability to choose for others.

Life certainly seems complicated at times but if I can break it down I may offer to you that it really is simple. A problem or dilemma at times may seem overwhelming at times but if you are able to see the core or foundational choice that will determine either a problem being solved or continuing to be a problem then that will be the choice you make. From there you make choices in that direction.

This is what I see as the hard part for many; they do not see reality in the situation and if you are trying to include unrealistic options the choice will have unrealistic results.

Each problem we face is dealt with this system; At times we may bypass some steps very quickly but this will be the thought process. We may bounce back and forth between these steps or we may never get to the final step which will not allow the problem to be solved but nevertheless this will be the process. You can acknowledge this process which will give you a better chance at solving the problem or you can deny it and the problem will not be solved, your choice.

The 5 stages; Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance

http://grief.com/the-five-stages-of-grief

Now these stages are usually associated with loss and death but I do believe they have a much wider application and are vital in most problem solving. I must point as the article does that the stage of acceptance does not preclude everything being rosy and peachy it allows one to reach a stage where they can realistically deal with the problem and find a solution that will help them move on to the next daily event in life without carrying the weight of the previous problem. No matter what it is, no matter how big or how small this process is vital.

No one escapes this process, no matter how strong or confident you think you are we will all go through this and to recognize this as valid is a great start to a healthy mind which leads to a healthy life.

So realistically we need to get to a stage where we realize what we can control, what we have influence over and what we do not. This has been offered in many different ways from many different cultures in the form of prayer, affirmations and just general wisdom and to deny this process is unrealistic and the first part of the process.

Find those that can guide you, help you and have your best interests at heart and this will help you get through the process and onto the next stage of your life.

Personally I try and be as realistic and rational as possible and when faced with problems I acknowledge this process as true and do my very best to work my way through it.

Life is not fair, we do not always get what we want in fact I would say most of the time we don’t but the idea is to find the best possible happiness. How you do this will be your journey and how I do it will be mine I just hope we all have a great journey along the way.

So think about your choices carefully and the consequences of that choice both negative and positive before you make it but remember once a choice is made it cannot be unmade.

Who Hijacked Reality / #621 What do you do about this? It at times just seems insane to me…

Journal Entry #621

November 29th, 2011

During a discussion I was having where I posted the true Christian dilemma as 2 Christians with similar ideas about their faith were saying how everyone else has it wrong I posted my video as an example of how we just need to step up and stop treating each other as enemies. The person removed it as they felt the links that you tube offered after the video was finshed were not appropriate for the people on his list as he is a youth pastor. Now I cannot help what you tube posts after and really to try and stop others from making decisions as to what to watch is not cool in my books. This will just peak their curiosity even more.

Now I understand he wants to maintain a squeaky clean image but it is what it is and the song is a great message. The discussion that followed quickly from my perspective generated into one of arrogance and righteousness on their part but you be the judge.

Even when I offer something that can be viewed by all as a great message it appears people will find a reason to promote their exact agenda. I get it that he has a right to take it away because of his association but really the song is just a good message…

The song…

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umKohFW-LrI

“We Are Here” By The Freeman (Official) www.thefreeman.net

Now some of these comments are priceless and I will highlight them in red. One comnment can sum up an entire position one takes………

The discussion;

Gary David Currie………. Again it is all subjective but you do what you feel is right. Anything is easy to justify.. I am not in a p[position to tell others how they should follow their faith and besides you guys take care of doing that yourself. Carry on……….. It seems my video disappeared… Interesting.

Belief Pictures………… Why did it disappear?

Gary David Currie ……………I have no idea…

Belief Pictures………. Hmmm…

Christian………

I did remove it (and have removed many links on my personal page, from Christian and non-Christian friends alike).

As an minister and youth leader in the church, I need to be aware of where links go on my page — since I am responsible for leaving them there or removing them.

After your new song plays, additional suggested videos come up that contain subject matter / language that I would not want anyone saying they got to from my Facebook page.

Belief Pictures…………. Thanks makes sense now…

Gary David Currie ………..Censorship cool your right to do so… I will no longer post my music for you to hear so you are not offended and kept in the bubble that you offer…Good luck…

Belief Pictures………. What???

Belief Pictures……. M__ is only speaking of appropriateness.

Gary David Currie ……..

I have absolutely no control over what you tube suggests and to be honest this should not affect the message in the song I have written. I really thought that Christians and all people would be able to relate as the message is universal and one of compassion and kindness.. Also Do you not think people are smart enough to make their own choices and really if they want something inappropriate you will not stop them. You cannot control the flow of life but good luck trying…

             ……..First classic comment……….

Belief Pictures ………….Gary people are not smart enough! That’s the whole point… without God and direction from the Holy Spirit they are looking for their own ways… ways that lead them to nowhere. His focus is the correct one.

Belief Pictures………. It is the association he doesn’t want…

Gary David Currie……… I get it Belief Pictures . I just view it a different way.. well thank for the chat.. As it appears I am not one to be associated with according to Belief Pictures.

Gary David Currie……….. By the way Belief Pictures I have more faith in humanity than you offer to be smart enough..I don’t look down upon the human race in such a way.

Christian………..

I didn’t write that I was offended, merely that I need to be aware of where links go that are posted on my page. I don’t think your new song (which I have watched) is inappropriate.

Your song FMF doesn’t “offend” me, but I’m sorry to say that I would not think it appropriate to play to a young child that might miss your intended message and simply repeat the chorus. If a Christian friend put a link on my page with doctrine / views that I found misleading, I would remove it too (and I have).

I am concerned about the young people I am responsible for.

And, it has nothing to do with smart. Temptation visits all of us.

Can I control “everything”? Of course not, nor do I need to. Being responsible and thinking about others sometimes calls for making the “best” decision in a given situation.

                    ………..next classic comment………..

Belief Pictures…………. Gary you have faith in humanity? That doesn’t say much…

Gary David Currie……… Belief Pictures that says everything because humanity is all we got..

Christian………If “fallen” humanity was everything, we’d all be doomed and nothing we would do would have any significance or lasting value (in fact, it wouldn’t have any actual value at all) — might as well try to “rent out” the planet to someone else! Gary, I truly find what you preach to be a depressing anti-gospel of the hopelessness of “fallen
humanity”.

Thankfully, we can have more than mere “fallen humanity”.

One of the problems is that Christians will call our “fallen” humanity “natural” or “normal” — it is not. Our current, sin-filled world is NOT the humanity that God established. Now we have to be “born again” to get back to the “Good” humanity God originally created.

Gary David Currie………… I preach reality if anything and I am sorry you have to have faith in imaginary things and I will continue to have hope in humans..

                   …….next classic comment………..

Belief Pictures………..Gary you do not know what you are talking about. M____ is in truth and worships the living God. His entire life is a reflection of that. You have your poles reversed and Satan wants to steal hope away from you so you don’t get saved…

                 …. next classic comment………..

Belief Pictures…………. It is not imaginary to believe in your creator.

Christian ………. Gary David Currie, am I the only one that finds it odd that atheists always have to resort to the “everyone else is delusional, we are the only sane people” cry when unable to make “progress”? Basically, the atheist actually believes himself to superior to everyone that is not. Now that is a dangerous mindset! The atheist claims to want to “work with all people”, but actually proudly believes themselves smarter than anyone that is not an atheist — since those other people can only be delusional or uneducated.

Whereas the true Christian believer has realized that he/she is JUST AS BAD and foolish as everyone else and comes to the realization that humanity is not suffering from a MENTAL problem, but a sin problem.

                     ………next classic comment…………..

Christian…………I truly am coming to the conclusion that atheism generally has nothing to do with a knowledge problem, it is MORAL problem. Atheists try to make it look like they are rejecting God with their mind, but are in fact separated from Him by their unrepentant hearts.

               …………..and more…………….

Belief Pictures…………… Gary once again you are incorrect. Humanity is not all we have. We have JESUS! We can have a relationship with Him today if we choose to… big part we much CHOOSE to…

Belief Pictures………… Atheists don’t believe in God… I wonder if God believes in atheists… hmm…

                                ……………….next……………

Belief Pictures…… On a serious side I think the whole atheist movement is a bunch of bunk. It’s a cop out. It’s like M____ said a moral problem… it’s so they can live their own immoral lifestyle and do things this way… this isn’t Burger King. You cannot have it your way!

Gary David Currie………. Good luck boys this discussion is old news.. you will do what you do and I will do what I do and where humanity ends up will be based on the path we choose… I have no need to defend who I and neither do you as we will each find those who have common ground. I have said my piece and wish you both luck on your journey..

Christian……..Gary, you’re correct — this discussion is a bit too familiar! (We might have engaged in it once or twice before!) – lol !!!

We are indeed on an interesting journey called life. One other common ground (I assume) we all have is that we believe we only get “one shot” at it to get it right and that we are doing what we believe is best.

My final comment: If I’m on the right track (and of course I believe & hope I am), I truly hope you’ll get on the same train so we can arrive at the same station someday! ;)

               ….and the final classic comment…………

Belief Pictures………….. We don’t need luck… we need Jesus!

Who Hijacked Reality / #619 The eternal human dilemma…

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

Journal Entry #619

November 22nd, 2011

What is this dilemma I speak off and how could I possibly know what it is? Good questions…

I don’t claim to know but I will venture to take an educated guess.

We all think we are right and we feel no one else is listening to what we are saying. I am sure there is not one person who is capable of understanding this concept who has not felt this way at one point or another in their lives.

How do we get past this?

We can’t both be right if we disagree but we can both be wrong”. This saying and I could not find the source of if I am quoting it exactly sums it up. It really doesn’t matter what we believe to be right or true what is important is if we can verify it or prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.

I see this dilemma in so many aspects of my life and the life’s of others as we all want to be heard, we all want to feel important and what better way of achieving that feeling than to be right on something. It feels good to have accurate knowledge on something. I am no exception to this.

What I would like to clarify with me is that I hope I am at stage in my life where it is not about being right but about acknowledging what is true whether I am right about something or not. Why is this important? Well at times it is not but I will say most of the time it is because if we follow something or believe in something that is not true I will say it will eventually provide negative results. The truth is important as it leads to trust and if we do not have trust in things again it will be difficult to act with positive results. We can trust what is not true but I do believe we are just fooling ourselves by doing this.

If I am wrong on something I deem important I would like to know as I want my beliefs and my journey to be as true as possible.

I guess it mystifies me why people want to live in a delusional state as eventually the fantasy will end. At some point the party stops and the after effects of the party always bring back reality, hard. Eventually the drug wears off, the beer glasses refocus and we have to deal with our actions.

So how do we figure out who is right and who is wrong? This is the problem as the method one accepts to do this; to validate what is true will determine their actions. It appears that too many use a method which distorts reality and we see the problems daily. The only method we have so far that has a good track record is the scientific process and yet many deny this process in favour of their version. It is not being right that should be important but what is true.

Because I use this and so many don’t my method has been an affront on those I interact with and I find this sad because I personally only want what is true as the truth has demonstrated its value in accepting it.

We need to listen to each other as this is very important but the companion to this is when we talk for others to listen we must try and talk with what is true as our focus.

Without truth we are living a lie and that is the truth..

Seek the truth always

Gary David Currie
