Journal Entry #613

November 10th, 2011

I have been actively involved in promoting my agenda with the main goal being positive respectful discussion around the globe and I want to pause and offer a few thoughts on the results of this.

We seem to each have our own answers to the big questions you know the ones that define us and direct our life’s, the ones that influence our daily decisions and at times these answers seem worlds apart.

1. What can I know?

2. Why am I here?

3. What am I?

4 How should I behave?

5. What is to come of me?

The more I talk the more I find out one thing, one very important thing. Once we get past all the posturing and bravado we have more in common then we think. I have learned to read between the lines and to listen to the intent behind the words and actions as this reveals who we truly are;

We are all afraid. Behind the anger, righteousness, declarations, avoidance and attitudes we basically want the same things. We want to be loved, to love and to never be alone. We want peace but we just don’t know how to get there and most of us are lost.

We strike out at others to show how brave we are be it through words or deeds and we strive to find our way in this world. We don’t want o be alone in the dark. Once I can get past the facade we all put on to mask this fear I see that if given the choice we will choose kindness over hate, empathy over apathy and peace over violence but we just don’t know how to express it.

I see we all have a story that is ripe with struggles and all the ingredients that make life worth living and we all want to share this with someone but many are uncertain how to do this so we embrace whatever we can grab on to that will bring us out of the dark and into the light.

I hope one day we see what we have in common and that we conquer our inability to face our fears, that we find the goodness in ourselves for when we do this we will express this in how we see others.

Doesn’t matter if I am right or you are right on any matter if we are not listening to each other now does it? If we strip away our egos we will start to feel what others feel and this is when we truly change, we truly grow and find the meaning to our lives we all so desperately seek.

I cannot change anyone nor do I want to and in some this fear will dominate their life’s so much they will kill for it, lie for it and die for it. The more I talk the more my fears subside as once we face those fears we have nothing left to fight about.

FACE YOU FEAR…

Who Hijacked Reality / #570 So much fear, so much hate, why is it so hard for us to get along..

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

Journal Entry #570

September 21st, 2011

As I live my daily life connecting with others around this planet I see displayed so much misery, hate and fear. I ask myself can we not move past this. Why is it so hard for us to just stop all this destructive behaviour? Now I realize we are all not engaging in this but it seems to be the order of the day. Fear just breeds more fear, hate breeds more hate.

Are we even capable of this change? If you are in a room with 20 people and everyone seems to be getting along all it takes is one person to change the mood of the room in a negative way. Next thing you know everyone is negative.

We seem to thrive on misery and at this point are so desensitized to it that it glosses over us.  One starving child we think we can help but when we see millions we give up.

I have talked about this many times before; the solutions will be as hard or as easy as we want them to be but the first step is to actually decide we want to change. How we do this is by identifying the obstacles to the change and deciding we are ready to move forward. We have not done this yet. We just keep trying to protect our little piece of the planet, trying to individually survive and as a strategy for the species this will not serve us well.

When the predominant activities are social in nature we are in for it. Look I have my offerings for a better world and so do others so we need to get together and work on this. It must be based in reality with achievable and realistic goals or else we are just wasting our time. Yes I realize that I have set ground rules that many will disagree with but apparently everything else out there has not worked so far so how about giving this a chance.

If it takes 10 years of my life or the life’s of others to hash our way through this it will have been 10 years well spent. Those years will pass by anyways so what is the problem. The problem is a desire to admit things are not working and be willing to change and this is incredibly hard for many to do.

I am under no illusion that people are listening to me but I must say my piece anyways. Of course we cannot literally affect everyone in the world directly but who knows where things can go. If I do nothing then nothing will happen.

I offer this;

We need people to represent humanity not countries, cultures, races or other interests that are counter to the betterment of the species. We need a plan but most importantly we need people to listen. There is a slim to nil chance of this happening anytime soon as we are still at our tribal war stage but this will be part of the process to move away from the legacies of our ancestors. We are there technically as a beginning to great things but our state of mind is still stuck in our barbaric past. Slowly we are recognizing our mistakes and there are those trying to affect change but it will not work until we fundamentally change our belief systems.

I am willing are you.

Who Hijacked Reality / #548 What if the countries were completely set up by ones beliefs?

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

Journal Entry #548

August 30th, 2011

What I am proposing as an experiment in thought is that all have the freedom to choose what they want to believe in regards to religion. We then would delegate certain areas as fair as possible for each of these groups based on population. Now of course this is just a thought experiment.

We can already see this in many parts of the world where countries are dictated by the religious beliefs but if all had the choice with no pressure to choose I would think that things would be very different.

Basically you would have all the religions of the world and a separate category of non-believers. In reference to non-believers I do not mean forced non-belief such as in Communist countries but again a choice.

Would those that proclaim a god still proclaim in the vast numbers they do now?

Would those countries practising beliefs be able to live peacefully with other nations?

I would think that most of the scientists and intelligent people would as statistics show live in the country with no belief in gods.

If we looked at the world 20 years from the time this was set up where would each nation be?

Would those that profess peace and are allowed to act on this ideal be in that position or would others always want what they have?

I do believe that that the nation of non-believers would thrive and work together for the common good.  I believe that the nations that follow religions would not as they seem to always be in conflict with one another.

Would they be able to just live in their own little bubble or would the doctrine of the religion force them to spread out? Each religion seems to have a central ideal of world domination at their core whereas nonbelievers do not.

It would be interesting to see the results of this if all were allowed to carry out their chosen faiths only within their borders. I think you would see certain nations continue to advance and most would regress.

What would happen when there is no one to preach to or convert, when all you are doing is preaching to the choir? Could they stand each other after awhile? I think it would break down into chaos.

I think the nation of nonbelievers would flourish and that many over time would want to be part of this nation.

A world without religion has never really been given a chance to see what would happen. Of course there will always be problems but I think that most would be willing to figure out realistic and positive solutions.

I would chose to live where there is no religion as I see this not only as the truth but as our best shot at having a peacful positive world.

My point is this all religions have had their shot in fact for over 2,000 years for some and the results have been poor so why do we keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting things to get better? This is insanity.

Time for a real change in our belief systems and this change needs to be given a realistic chance  just as religion has been given.

Who Hijacked Reality / #463 Basically we are still a bunch of squabbling tribes, how sad.

Sunday, June 5th, 2011

Journal Entry #463

June 5th, 2011

We are still just a bunch of tribes that are divided fighting for our place in this world. If we are not divided by where we live then it will be something else, religion, race, ideals and any other division you can think of. Then these tribes are divided into smaller tribes. I find this sad as we try to be so different while not realizing we are so similar. We all originate from the Savannahs in Africa.

Each position in any conflict will think they are right and will not be willing to empathize with the others position. Unfortunately at times these divisions promote violence and create misery.

I can use the example of the Israeli / Palestine conflict and how this is basically a tribal conflict but you can see this everywhere within humanity. I see this as weight around our necks preventing us from moving forward.

Original post;

Each year approximately 700 Palestinian children, some as young as 12 years, are detained and prosecuted in the Israeli military court system. The most common charge is for throwing stones. The overwhelming majority of these children are detained inside Israel in contravention of Article 76 of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Gary David Currie……… The terrible result of religious conflict which is the core issue here and addressing this in my view will lead to the solution.

C____….I disagree that it’s the core issue, but how would you go about addressing it if you were in a position to do so?

Gary David Currie…… The same way I do every day by championing the ideal of truth. There are so many atrocities and much misery on both sides but this is the real issue. Let me rephrase…It is believing in and acting on lies that have manifested itself into religious conflict and division.

I have actually proposed a solution for this. I call this syndrome “Sandbox Junkies.

Thanks for your question it is refreshing instead of just telling me your position you asked for mine. Awesome as this is part of the solution..

Gary David Currie………. If one is constantly putting out fires but does not address the source of the fire the fire will continue. It is noble to champion a particular issue in these conflicts but it will not solve the problem. Each position must be willing to let go of the past and come to the table with what they are willing to concede not what they want for this to have a chance at a peaceful resolution.

C____….. No worries, it is not an easy subject for me to discuss at length because of what I have witnessed and experienced over there. At some point I grew very tired of trying to show the rest of the world what it seemed to me didn’t want to be se…en.

Even religious conflicts have an historical basis and are fuelled by political powers, acting in accordance with definite social and economic interests. I think the problem is bigger than most folk imagine, but who can say how or when it will actually see a worthwhile resolution. We are talking about some extremely barbaric practices here.

Gary David Currie………… Agreed.. There is no good guy bad guy here that is clear. There is just conflict and misery.

C____…..Behind every religious conflict there’s an economic one. The veneer of religion is thrown on top to hide the economic motives from the (generally) impoverished people who do the actual killing and dying.

C____……Well I don’t know about that… when you have hundreds of children being criminalised every year for throwing stones at armoured tanks, and a ruthless military apparatus guided by successive administrations that clearly intend to continue its occupation and oppression of a people, I think you can say that one is definitely the bad guy. Of course there is more to the story than that, but essentially this is what disturbs me. And this is a popular misconception, that the “two sides” are even remotely balanced.

Gary David Currie……. I think you missed my point. Each position will see what they want to. Each side is the good guy and the other the bad guy. My point is that these sides are a product of division. There was a starting point, when I don’t know and I… am sure it was based on some sort of religious division based on delusional thinking. Everything else is just a product of this thinking. You say Israel is the bad guy others say Palestine is.. I say it is all wrong to hurt each other and if we want a solution many concessions will have to be made and the past forgotten or else it will continue. One tribe is always trying to conquer another. I am not in the delusion and can view it from an unbiased perspective. Each side will promote its misery and unjust acts but the point is it must stop so that should be the focus. How to stop it is to address why it started. Easy? NO but the only solution I see. It is all about what is true.

Gary David Currie……………. personally while it is interesting to talk about this conflict I feel the ones that have a direct stake in this should be the ones who are trying to work it out and until they are willing it will continue.

CHR____…… A lot of people there *are* willing. It’s not as if no one’s working at it.

Gary David Currie…….. Well willing or not the bottom line is it is not working so something needs to change. Maybe the approach is not working as the foundation is usually based on division formed by religious and other views.

H__…… Gary, do you really think that the conflict is based on theological matters?

Gary David Currie………. Yes which are fuelled from acting on lies? Don’t you? This goes way back

H____………..No, I don’t think the current conflict is based on religion (at least, not more than superficially). I would expand on this more, but I’m on my way out the door. Perhaps Chadwick could elaborate more on the actual conflict when he checks in.

Gary David Currie……. Really, Islamic fundamentalists, Jews same holy spot. If you are telling me that religious differences are not heavily involved in this I would be very surprised. If people truly wanted peace they would work it out, they all want to win and get what they feel they are entitled to. Look to me religion is just another lie that people follow and use to justify acts in life. Greed and power same idea.

CHR___……….There are a lot of Palestinian Christians as well. It’s a contested spot, but it has *also* been a spot in which all three of these populations *have* lived pretty peacefully before. There’s a lot more to this than religion.

C____………  There is not much I can add right now that hasn’t been mentioned – I think one of the previous comments actually sums it up well enough:

“Behind every religious conflict there’s an economic one. The veneer of religion is thrown …on top to hide the economic motives from the (generally) impoverished people who do the actual killing and dying.”

Tribal mentality, do we still have a use for it?

Who Hijacked Reality / #441 I’m tired but not enough to shut up.

Journal Entry #441

May14th, 2011

My message is clear; we need to stop accepting the lies that we tell ourselves and the actions that follow these lies.

Do we deserve to occupy this planet? I guess time will tell because the earth will be fine but we probably will not be. Are we worthy of the position we hold as the dominant species? Are we good caretakers of not only this world but of each other and all life that exists on Earth?

I believe these to be very tough questions to answer, while we see evidence that we do not deserve this honour we also see evidence that we do. There is good in this world backed by reason, common sense and scientific reasoning but there is also evil, greed and stupidity backed by a belief in lies and the actions that follow. Which path will we chose?

I keep saying that the philosophy for a positive existence as a species is not that hard to figure out. I feel I present it as well as many others and yet so many chose the latter. Of course they think as I think they are doing what is right. Ultimately it will not matter in the future it will only matter right now.

We have the capacity for good that is strong in our species but the pull for what is harmful is just as strong. Again I believe everyone feels they are doing what is right but the evidence does not show this. My position is not one of pointing out every detail that needs to be addressed as I feel we need to understand basic concepts first such as truth and the ability we have to understand what truth actually is. This is what I focus on.

Why do we treat each other with such a lack of empathy and compassion? We can see beyond the moment and understand so much of what this universe holds but we lack the basic skill of valuing how precious our existence is on this planet and how easily it can disappear.

I am tired of watching people being so self absorbed that on a daily basis we treat each other like dirt. The evidence is everywhere. It is unfortunate that people will do anything to survive using methods that will harm others. I hope that one day we will rise above this behaviour.

Of course being tires of this is my own fault as I have chosen to be concerned. Why I have made this choice is personal and yes following my own philosophy I am doing this for selfish reasons. I am speaking in a broad general sense here but this can easily be applied to ones daily life which I have shown in many other articles I have written. I am not the first to say this and probably will not be the last but nevertheless I feel these ideals needs to be presented.

Below you will see 2 pictures which to me represent the concept I am referring to. Our balance is so messed up that we starve some and stuff others, 2 extremes of the spectrum.

The solutions are as simple as we want them to be but first we must acknowledge the problem. It really is one problem that has manifested itself in so many ways. We refuse as a species to acknowledge what is actually true.
