Journal Entry #631

December 21st, 2011

To all my regular readers;

I have not been writing lately due to some personal issues, I would like to thank you all for taking time out of your life’s to read my thoughts on various issues and  how life works.

At the end of the day this is just a blog and its importance in my life pails in comparison to many other things. I write because I enjoy it and believe I have something worthy to say. I keep my personal life for the most part separate from my public persona as I believe all should

So many things we see as important in life  really are not. We get caught up in all the details of daily life that actually cause us harm if we do not keep them in perspective. One must be willing to lose everything that can be lost and I not talking about the loss of life here but all things we see of value that can be easily replaced and truly only have the meaning we give them. If you are willing to lose all these things you will find something more valuable. What that will be for you will be you journey.

One must be willing to face their fears and let go of them in order to truly have a great and meaningful life. I really don’t think most understand or are willing understand the concept behind what I am saying here as it is our fears that seem to cause most of our problems.

Once again I thank all who have read my thoughts and very soon I will get back into the rhythm I had before.

Seek the truth always

Who Hijacked Reality / #628 Chasing

Journal Entry #628

December 13th, 2011

Life sure can be interesting, it can be full of joy or full of sorrow, full of pain or full of happiness, full of excitement or full of dullness, sometimes we make the choices and sometimes the choices are made for us.

On my personal journey and that really is what my blog is all about, my experinces and how I  see the world, how I see life and how I grow and learn there are many small realizations along the way and sometimes huge ones. I would not say I have had at anytime that epiphany moment and I do look forward to that someday but I have had those many little moments. The important thing I realized long ago is that I needed to be open to them and I do believe I am.

One of these realizations is to find that balance between chasing want you desire and knowing when to stop. As long as you keep chasing someone they will keep running. There is a difference between being with someone and chasing them. There is a difference between trying to get out your ideas and forcing them onto people. Advertisers have figured this out a long time ago and I would say the best at it are those who peddle drugs as they get you hooked and then you are chasing them.

I think life is really simple and they we tend to complicate it which in turn kind of makes it seem a little crazy. We really know what we want but the problem is that what we want in the moment always changes. Just when we think we have it all figured out boom the next moment presents a left turn. That is what makes life exciting those left turns.

If you have something that is worthy, that is based on truth I do believe people will seek it out. Sometimes you have to chase others a little just to get the idea out but then you have to back off or they will not value it. Once they are hooked they will chase the idea and it is then the process of equilibrium can be worked out.

No magical formula for any of this just a moment by moment adjustment in our lives.

This is all part of the process of seeking the truth on any matter and if one is willing to do this, to be open to the changes and process that life offers they will be amazed at what life has in store.

I personally believe at this moment I have found this balance in regards to who and what I should chase, when to stop and why. Of course this may change but for now I will go with the realization. It seem to be all about letting go and doing the things you love because they are the things you love to do. Sure I hope my music and anything I do artistically is a success and I think I do everything within my power to bring this to light but at this point i just need to relax on it and other things in my life and while I have hopes as  to how they will turn out I must also enjoy the moments I have without them. Very hard to do to let go  on anything but once one accepts that they
really are holding onto to an illusion in the first place as control does not exist then the chances improve.

You never know who is watching from the sidelines and what they will bring to your journey.

I wrote this the other day and I think it offers great value.

“I will see you.”

Who Hijacked Reality / #591 The Magic Solution.

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

Journal Entry #591

October 13th, 2011

Each day I go about talking with people on various issues and concepts that I see as important for humanity to move towards an existence that will bring about the least amount of misery for us all. This is a far more difficult task than you can imagine. It appears I see it my way and they see it theirs but I had hoped that we would find common ground, some basics that we all can agree on. This again has been a difficult task.

Even when I propose the simplest most obvious things to start a discourse from agreement I am met with resistance. So many are looking or feel they have found that magic solution and no one is going to tell them any different. Magic sounds great, I have often thought about ways that I could make things better, ways that defy the laws that surround us but I always realize that things are the way they are because that is the way we exist. To defy nature will have consequences. Besides the fact that magic does not exist and that we must work within the rules of the universe I am brought to mind the saying “Be careful what you wish for you just might get it.”

There is no magic solution. We probably would have found it by now but still people keep indulging in unrealistic thinking, magical thinking. We try to bend the rules but really we only bend them in our imaginations and then pretend what we have created is real. We go so far as to act on these thoughts and affect the lives of others.

This is humanities obsession and it is a dangerous one. Stop and think for a minute or two about what you believe and why you believe it. Has it ever truly worked? Have you actually ever seen what you believe to be real? I don’t mean in your imagination I mean for real where others can verify it, where in this modern world we can take a video or credible picture of it. Some good hard evidence? If the answer is no then come on it probably is not real. Sorry to burst your bubble, rain on your parade but come on.

When I get requests like this I just feel sorry for the person;

Marie A. Browne Albrand

Greetings Gary in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ My Lord and Saviour forever. I requested you because of your comment about God being a person! If I can help you understand who and why God sent His Son to this earth, then Praise God. I don’t know everything there is to know, but after walking with God for more than 35 years I do know He is real and hears and answers prayer. My heart is heavy for people and God has given me His love for my fellow man and women. So if you are willing to hear and know truth you can accept my request! God Bless you and much love to you in Jesus.
Marie

So many in the world are living in this fantasy state in their minds, this is the 21st century with all the wonders and technology we have access to. We have increased our understanding of the universe around us at an incredible rate and still people are clinging to magical thinking. Does this make sense? No it does not.

How do we get past this?

Do you not think this is childish, taking things as true that are impossible in reality? Sometimes you just have to call it the way it is and so many are deluded in their beliefs. We know better. Do you realize how many laws of nature have to be broken for magic to exist? Do you really think through what it is you believe? It all sounds great in its conceptualization but to actually apply it.

The reality of the fantasies if they were real is not what you think they will be. It is all great because it is pretend but truly apply in reality what you believe.

We can see the negative effects when people try and live out the fantasies on a daily basis but again this is just a human interpretation of the events and it goes wrong there imagine the real event.

Take the concept of heaven and really think it through. Don’t just stop where it feels good keep going and apply some reasoning to it. Just the idea of living forever is scary as hell.

Come on people time to let go of childish wishful thinking and grow up. There is no magic and if there was it would just be normal not magical. It is only the idea that you can pretend to make it what you want it to be that is appealing.

If we can get past this nonsense we stand a chance because once reality is accepted you realize you have to work within the rules of the universe and you no longer engage in magical thinking for solutions to your problems.

Reality is neither good nor bad; it just is.” – Arbie M. Dale

Who Hijacked Reality / #524 Is all we do natural as opposed to man-made?

Journal Entry #524

August 6th, 2011

I had an interesting discussion today with a good friend of mine (Rene’) after we watched a video called Baby Yoga. I will post the link with an article and he original video posted by a Russian woman who offers a unique perspective on exercising very young 2 week olds to toddlers with swinging motions that have many in North America disgusted and shocked. I personally found it fascinating as I am always interested in how other people see the world we live in.

DadWagon Q&A: Exclusive Interview with Baby Yoga’s Lena Fokina

While this may seem dangerous for the newborn I would ask myself is this my conditioned response kicking in from living in the western world or is it a valid method of conditioning your child with practical positive benefits as claimed by those who practise it. I would have to verify the evidence before I made a decision but I would certainly not just put forth my bias before this.

So do we truly understand the natural world and really is the natural world all there really is, reality? If everything we do is just part of the natural course of things then truly it must run its course.

Let me use the example of the Earth’s population. I have proposed that we have more people presently than the earth can sustain comparing it to an island. If the islands resourses can only support 100 people comfortably and we raise the population to 200 what will happen? Will we run out of resources? Will people fight to survive?  Will we find better methods to utilize the recourses or will we just die off? This is basically what is happening to our species on earth now but on a larger scale.

Is this the natural process of culling the herd that humanity now uses? Are wars necessary to this process?

The question I usually get is “Who decides who will live and who will die?” My answer is nature will. Yes this seems cruel as we are a species separated by others through the act of empathy but ultimately we are about survival as this is the natural process. I have been labelled the natural man by some but honestly I see it no other way as the universe and all it implies is all we have.

No matter how we view things, what trivial or important issues we engage in the natural process cannot be stopped so is it better to embrace this or try and fight it as many do by claiming gods and anything else that is not part of the natural world. Now of course these are false claims as again all we have is the natural world so I say embrace it, work with it for the least possible misery for all instead of attempting to control it which is impossible and definitely an illusion. Nature is in control which I have no doubt in.

When there is drought that leads to famine as cruel as this sounds is this part of the natural process, the culling of the herd? I am not in the situation of starving to death and in no way am I endorsing to sit by and do nothing but just trying to understand why things happen that seem cruel at times. I guess what I see is that we cause more than necessary cruelty upon ourselves by trying to control the natural flow of the universe.

Let me be clear on this. We are not in control, never have been and never will be as a species so we need to stop engaging in this futile behaviour and embrace the natural world.

The question is; are our actions in attempting this control just part of this natural process to begin with?

Nature always wins and there is nothing else but the natural world so I will gladly bear this label of the natural man living in the natural world and seeking all this natural world has to offer. My mortality will be through my music, writing and experiences that leave others with memories of my time here. Doesn’t matter if I like it or not that is the way it is.

Control is an illusion my friends accept this fact.

There is only the natural world as this implies all that is real and reality. Man-made is still natural.

Who Hijacked Reality / #431 Did I take this passage from the bible out of context?

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Journal Entry #431

May 4th, 2011

I Posted this on Face Book;

For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:23

According to the bible we are all sinners so we all should die.

I was told that not only was I talking this out of context but that I was baiting Christians.

Also this;

Said to me………..I agree that the bible is contradictory, and can be used to disprove itself sometimes, but this is not one of those times. These sorts of posts make it seem like you’ve lost perspective of the bigger picture. This isn’t going to convert anyone to atheism, it’s only going to make them regress further into their own beliefs.

 I like you Gary, and I have respect for your beliefs and your message. This is how I feel. Any Christian would be able to justify this passage, if not to you than to them. What good does that do? When you use these methods, especially when the grounds are as seemingly shaky as this (most Christians will easily defend the same perspective I have, and I don’t even believe in this stuff), you run the risk of coming across as a zealot, and that doesn’t help you or me, and it doesn’t make any religious person want to be like either of us.I agree that the bible is contradictory, and can be used to disprove itself sometimes, but this is not one of those times. These sorts of posts make it seem like you’ve lost perspective of the bigger picture. This isn’t going to convert anyone to atheism, it’s only going to make them regress further into their own beliefs.

The entire passage was quoted to me but it basically summed up in this final verse so let’s have a good look at it. I keep hearing the same message of context but my point is that how are we to know unless god actually comes down here and straightens it out. It is all subjective. Once again I find so many concentrating on me instead of what I present.

Breaking it down;

“The wages of sin is death”. So I am assuming and this can be a negative thing that from the perspective of the bible it implies death of the spirit. Now I have no idea what a spirit actually is or a soul as well but this seems to be the meaning. So your soul will continue on in the afterlife correct? Now according to the bible it will not die as you will go to one of 2 places hell or heaven so death is incorrect.  Sin is breaking the commands or laws of god but if you break them and do not accept Jesus you still go some place so again you do not die. Now if this refers to reality or life on earth we are all going to die eventually so who cares if you sin or not.. If this means that god will kill you for sinning as I think this would be the literal interpretation then according to the bible we will all die and should be killed by god imediatley as we all are born into sin.

“But the gift of god is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord”. Well again according to the bible we have eternal life either way so it really is about taking the option that is most pleasant, heaven. So if you say the magic words all of your sins are forgiven and off to Heaven you go. Now eternal life really won’t be life at all it will be something completely different which we have no idea about. This is pure speculation. Do you really want to exist forever? Will it even be you as being human implies life so what will it be to exist as a soul?

What this passage is saying is that if you be good according to the rules of odd you will get a reward so follow the rules. The bible is so confusing, kill here don’t kill there. How can I take this out of context when we really have no idea what it means as nothing can be confirmed? It is pure speculation. Now if we were to look at this as a passage written by man it starts to make sense. Man invented god to use as a control mechanism which requires a reward / punishment system. It is disguised as eternal life and it will control what is deemed sin or unwanted behaviour. Now this makes sense.

All I did was point out the absurdity of this passage when you add in the fantasy element of a god and I challenge anyone to prove context to me on it… This is just one passage and the bible is full of contradictions which are easily dispelled with a dose of reason.

I am still looking for a Christian to verify to me exactly what a true Christian is as every Christian seems to think they are what the bible demands as a true Christian and they are all different. Show me the context that allows one to determine what is right and wrong according to  the bible. Who determines the meaning of the words of the bible? Who is actually right and who is wrong and how do we verify this?

Context my ass, when you add incredible claims without incredible evidence context goes out the window.
