I promote truth based on evidence verified by reason and the scientific process. I consistently run into people who profess various forms of beliefs that are not grounded by this process. They indulge in a mixture of fantasy and reason which according to reality simply will not work. Many will even reject the process I follow all together without even realizing that without it they could not function in life and yet they refuse to acknowledge this fact.
So how can you talk with someone who engages in fantasy thinking but of course think that I engage in fantasy thinking because I just refuse to see it their way. The answer is that you really can’t until they change the process.
They can claim that I think I am right as much as I claim they are wrong. So who is really right? I constantly ask people to show me a different method of determining truth if they will not accept the methods of reason and science and so far I have got nothing. Really what happens is that they use reason and science right up until the point it will not support their chosen fantasy.
This is a pickle no doubt because ultimately I cannot prove them wrong nor would I try it is all about demonstrating beyond a reasonable doubt. That is the way our court systems work and there is good reason for this.
It is absurd to argue from a position of fantasy as nothing can ever be confirmed or denied that is why one must accept reality and argue from reason where a conclusion can often be determined beyond a reasonable doubt.
This is where religion / faith based claims fail every time..
Gary David Currie
When one argues from any position of fantasy which means anything that cannot be verified in reality while it may be fun it should in no way be used to determine truth.
So we will argue back and forth each using a different set of standards. The one I will use will be consistent and theirs will continuously change because it is based on a lie. To be honest I refuse to indulge in the fantasy and they refuse to step out of it.
So the wheels on the bus go round and round. Now I really wouldn’t care what fantasy someone indulges in accept that it affects me directly and I personally care about humanity which these beliefs greatly affect.
The only way we will get past this is to continue to promote critical thinking, reasoning and arriving at the truths life holds through the scientific process. There really is nothing else one can do. If you want to think that I am being arrogant that is your choice. Tomorrow I will post a very long discussion to demonstrate this point. It will be worth the read if you are interested in seeing how one talks from a position of fantasy while the other person uses reason and logic. You can decide who is doing what.
I find that people will consistently avoid my questions or answers and pick and choose what they feel is easy for them to attack or defend. When you are trying to defend a position from fantasy it will not stand up with a position of reason so people engage in a multitude of tactics. They refuse to follow the rules of discussion and this is vital to a healthy debate.
A fact is a fact no matter what we think or how we try and twist it.
